LIE: NATO had to attack Serbian targets because President Slobodan Milosevic would not negotiate on Kosovo.

TRUTH: When "peace talks" were held in France in February 1999, Madeleine Albright, the US Secretary of State, admitted that there had been no offer of "negotiations". Instead there was an ultimatum that the Serbs would agree to the following: 1) Kosovo should be granted autonomy; 2) 30,000 NATO troops should be stationed in Kosovo to police this autonomy; 3) NATO should organise a referendum to vote on "independence" for Kosovo. The Serbs agreed to the first demand, but rejected two and three as a gross violation of their sovereignty.

LIE: NATO is bombing the Serbs (and the Montenegrins, Albanians, Hungarians, Romanis, and others who live there) because of their concern about "ethnic cleansing" and human suffering.

TRUTH: The NATO countries, not least the United Kingdom, United States, and Germany, played a major role in arming the groups which forced the break up of the former Yugoslavia. These same NATO powers have been responsible for a limitless stream of ethnic genocide across the world - take the US support for Pol Pot in Cambodia alone. And where were these self-styled warriors for freedom when the horrors of East Timor and elsewhere were unfolding before our eyes? Today and every day sanctions and war kill an estimated 300 Iraqis, half of them children under five. The truth is that NATO is simply a killing machine, killing people of all nationalities. NATO has been forced to admit to "accidents" when their bombs have provably killed civilians, but the true scale of this is suppressed. As in Iraq, thousands of civilians, including Albanians in Kosovo, have been killed by NATO bombings.

LIE: The NATO bombing has to be increased and continued over many months to destroy the Serbian military.

TRUTH: This claim should be treated with the same contempt as those which built the Iraqi "Republican Guard" into an awesome fighting force in the public mind, thanks to the mind doctors in the Pentagon and the media. The "Republican Guard" were a comparative rabble who were never going to be a match for the NATO onslaught, just as events proved. But are the media going to tell you the truth when, for instance, NBC, the US television network, is controlled by General Electric, which is providing the engines for NATO jets? Let us just think about this for a moment. The Federal Republic of Yugoslavia has just 10 million people, barely the population of London. Against this nation is aimed the might of 19 countries, among them some of the biggest military powers on the planet, which have a combined population of more than half a billion. And it is going to take months and months of nightly "precision" bombing to destroy their military potential? Oh, do come on. As with Iraq, the targets are not purely military and when at some time the true story of these NATO bombings is revealed, the public which today supports these horrors, will be stunned on what was really happening and how they allowed themselves to be scammed so comprehensively.
